[...] Gamers Prepare for 2009 Marathon Session for Charity Halifax, NS- Cries of “Ahoy” and “Shiver me Timbers” will be heard around the gaming table as the play their third annual marathon for charity on June 13-14, 2009. The Gelatinous Dudes will game in a straight, 24-hour stretch to raise money for their charity of choice: Adsum House for Women and Children. The Gelatinous Dudes aim to try something novel every 24-hour game and are planning to use Pinnacle Entertainment Group’s Savage Worlds game system for 2009. The intensive session will be set in the swashbuckling 50 Fathoms world of high-adventure. The Dudes are calling their game “Oceans 24: Pirates of the Caribdus”. “The fast paced Savage World rules will keep the action moving and the players on their toes,” says the organizer of the event Stephen Saunders. “The rules are easy to grasp, so even though some of the players will be new to the Savage World roleplaying game, I know that learning the system won’t slow anything down,” says Saunders. The annual Gelatinous Dudes 24-hour game has raised over $1,200 for charity since it was started in 2007. 2008's 24-hour game was a tribute to E. Gary Gygax and the early editions of D&D. The DM converted the classic adventure "Keep on the Borderlands" to D&D 3.5 rules and all the players created gnome characters. The game was called... No Country for Old Gnomes. Adsum for Women & Children is a charitable, community based organization located in Halifax, Nova Scotia that supports women and children who are homeless or at risk of becoming so. The Gelatinous Dudes is a group of Halifax table top gaming enthusiasts. Who not only share a love for gaming, but a passion to be a positive force in their community. For more information on the 24-hour game or the Gelatinous Dudes, contact TJ Murray: bonelock at gelatinousdudes dot com. [...]

Interesting, I think I'll have to find the book to read. There are many things that turns me off the 4th edition. One thing I do like is the differenciation between ritual spells and regular spells. That's about it though.

Sounds a bit like they are making D&D Online into the tabletop version, what with the different racial and class special abilities that you can choose, and the ability to cast more than just a couple of preslected spells.

Im still not sure about 4th ed. I think i will get the PHB when it comes out, and decide after that.

From what I read here i see nothing to change my opion.

$th edition is not for me, but that is fine. I have enought invested in 3.5 I can't justify the change over anyway.
