Thoughts from the Games Room 5.1

    December 11th, 2006 by BunnyPuncher

Well, since our venerable ruminator on all things DMing has put himself on holiday over the Christmas season I thought I would “borrow” his article for a bit. I didn’t ask for ODAs permission, but I hope he will not mind if I guest write a few contributions.

Unlike Orcdoubleaxe I am not by any means a veteren DM. In fact, in the last decade I have DM’d a total of four sessions – and all since October of this year. Previous to this recent dabbling, my only experience was holding a couple of one shot adventures for a few dweebish friends in High School. So as such I am learning both the ins and outs of DMing and also for the first time attempting to hold together a coherant story arc.

I have been fortunate in recent years to have played in games run by several good DMs (Zuran Alda – (D&D) Against the Giants & Age of Worms, & Saunders – (Iron Heroes) Frontiers) and as a result I felt that over the last two years I had played enough to take a stab at DMing myself. In today’s article I will point out what I have learned from these two wonderful fellows and attempt to describe how I have done my best to incorporate their “best practices” into my own game.

    Food Bank Donation II

    December 5th, 2006 by BunnyPuncher

Orcdoubleaxe dropped off 80 food items weighing in at 88lbs last thursday at the collection point in Mic Mac Mall. Apparently our donation rivalled the corporate donations in terms of sheer mass. We kick ass for charity my brothers and sisters.

Also, the shopping for our “Adopt-A-Family” has been completed thanks to Orcdoubleaxe, Mrs. Orcdoubleaxe and Zuran Alda who braved the crowds to pillage and plunder for gifts. We raised an eye poppin $430 quid for this, more than I would have thought possible. Thanks to all the GDs who helped make this happen and a special shout out to Flagstone Business Interiors for their $100 donation.

So in my not so humble opinion (as you all know, I’ve never given a humble one) I would count 2006 a damn fine success considering we just started in September.

    YTD food items: 184
